The limited outdoor area we have has been creatively designed to stimulate the children. There is a ‘wild side’ to explore, where only natural materials can be found. All aspects of living outside are investigated from having an outdoor picnic, digging for treasure in the sand pit to camping out in a tent for story time. It is also surprising to see the engineering skills of the children when they have access to our larger construction materials.
Like the forest schools, we go out in all weathers wearing appropriate clothing which is supplied by the nursery. We are currently trying to secure a secret garden, which will enhance our vegetable patch and give us even more outside space!
